1. Introduction
At WiseMind, we believe your mental health journey is deeply personal. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our DBT skills training application.
We've designed WiseMind with privacy as a core principle. Your most sensitive data — including your journal entries and S.O.S. lists — stays on your device by default, giving you complete control over your personal information.
2. Information We Collect
Information Stored Locally (On Your Device)
By default, the following data is stored only on your device. We cannot access, view, or retrieve this information unless you explicitly enable cloud synchronization:
- Journal Entries: All thoughts, reflections, and personal entries you create
- S.O.S. Lists: Your personalized coping strategies and emergency contact information
- Progress Data: Your skill practice history and personal notes
- Custom Settings: Your app preferences and personalization choices
- Contacts (Optional): If you grant permission, we access your device's contacts so you can select favorite people for quick access within the app. Your contacts are not uploaded to our servers or shared with any third party.
Information We May Collect
When you use certain features of WiseMind, we may collect:
| Data Type | Purpose | Storage |
|---|---|---|
| Account Information | To create your account (if you choose cloud sync) | Our servers |
| Email Address | Account recovery and important updates | Our servers |
| Usage Analytics | To improve app performance (anonymized) | Analytics provider |
| Crash Reports | To fix bugs and improve stability | Sentry |
| Advertising Event Data | To measure and improve the performance of our ad campaigns | Meta (Facebook) Events Manager |
| Purchase & Subscription Data | Sent as part of subscription and free trial events to measure ad campaign performance; includes purchase price, currency, and product ID | Meta (Facebook) Events Manager |
Third-Party Analytics, Advertising & Crash Reporting
We work with the following third-party service providers to help us understand app usage, measure the effectiveness of our marketing, and diagnose technical issues:
- Meta (Facebook) Events Manager: We share certain app events (such as installs, sign-ups, and feature usage) with Meta Platforms, Inc. to measure and improve the performance of our advertising campaigns. This may include device and event identifiers, but never your journal entries, S.O.S. lists, or other personal content. When you start a free trial or purchase a subscription, we also send the associated purchase price, currency, and product ID to Meta as part of these events. You can manage how your data is used for advertising through your device's privacy settings (e.g., App Tracking Transparency) or directly with Meta at facebook.com/adpreferences.
- Sentry: We use Sentry to collect crash reports and error diagnostics so we can identify and fix bugs. Crash data may include device information and app state at the time of the error, but does not include your journal entries or S.O.S. lists.
These providers only receive the data necessary to perform their services and do not have access to your locally stored personal data.
3. Cloud Synchronization — Your Choice
We understand that some users want to access their data across multiple devices or keep a secure backup. That's why we offer optional cloud synchronization.
Cloud sync is entirely optional. You can enable or disable it at any time from your Profile Settings.
When cloud sync is enabled, your journals and S.O.S. lists are encrypted and stored securely on our servers, allowing you to access them from any device where you're logged in.
What Happens When You Enable Cloud Sync
- Your journal entries and S.O.S. lists are encrypted and uploaded to our secure servers
- You can access your data across all your devices
- Your data is automatically backed up
- Data is encrypted both in transit and at rest
What Happens When You Disable Cloud Sync
- New entries are stored only on your device
- Previously synced data can be deleted from our servers upon request
- Local data on your device remains unaffected
- You can re-enable sync at any time
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
